January was a month of upheaval and goodbyes. I gave my two week notice at the home care company and began working as a real live fairy godmother altering gowns at David’s Bridal.
As hard as those two weeks were I am thankful I had time to say my goodbyes and discuss the future with my clients. I was leaving them as staff so our relationships could become something better. I want to be with them because I want to be with them. Not because I’m paid to be there. I don’t want a transactional relationship. (hopefully this is making sense… if not here’s a link that explains it simply and briefly). These were hard conversations. We cried.
“I’m leaving you so we can be friends.”
“I’m leaving our scheduled work times so we can hang out whenever we want.”
This got me thinking about my relationship with God and how often I view our relationship as transactional.
“God, you give me this. Thanks very much, I’ll be going now.”
“God this space is uncomfortable and not to my liking. Make it the way it was.”
“God, I’m happy here. No thank you. I do not want to try this new thing you want me to do.”
How often am I afraid to leave what I know, for what He has for me, because it is new, different and outside of my established routine? I can’t schedule or predict what He wants me to do or how long it will take. He doesn’t even promise me results.
But just as I asked my clients to trust me, I have a choice to trust Him.
So… this week—two weeks shy of six months in my new location, —I felt hope for the future for the first time in a long time.
I struggle with migraine and this lady has helped me learn so much! If you want nutrition and supplement information she is my go to for explaining what, when and how food and supplements can help migraine. She was the one who recommended ginger as a pain reliever during a migraine. And look what walmart had!
It’s all mixed up and ready to go. Tumeric helps with inflammation also. I’ve been drinking it when the right half of my body starts to seize up and it actually is working for me.
From a knitted sweater that I started 6 years ago to a batman ipad case I whipped up for a surprise birthday gift, I’ve been having fun making things!
And now my dears, it’s your turn! How is this new year treating you?
