Every Moment Holy has been a recentering force in my life. They have an app with daily prayer prompts and an Instagram.
Isn’t there a famous quote saying all the birds come home to roost? The last couple weeks have been that for me. All my emotions landing at the same time. The sad and the difficult on the heels of the beautiful and wonderful. I’ll give it to you in a bullet list. The thankfulness next to the painful.
I am fighting to keep an upright perspective; but even when I fall and view the trail backwards and upside down, I continue to move forward. One step at a time, like a toddler on a grand adventure, I keep hold of the Father’s hand and keep moving forward.
I am thankful for the few who walk alongside me. We throw leaves at each others faces and rush to see if there’s an owie after a fall. We kiss it better and say,
“Keep going.”
“Shake it off.”
“There’s ice cream up ahead.”
I pray as you read these words, you are encouraged too. You are not alone in your struggles. May you feel and accept the loving hand reaching to help you. May this letter spark hope in you, as so many written words have sparked hope in me.
As the season of winter/holiday eating approaches here are a few questions to ask yourself if you desire to be mindful of your eating patterns.
Why am I eating this? To please myself? Please others? Satisfy hunger?
Does the number on the scale matter? Why or why not?
How do my clothes fit?
What is my theology of food? How does my faith impact what I consume? What does God say about eating?
Does my plate contain veggies, protein and carbs? How balanced has my daily intake been?
When was the last time I drank a cup of water?
Take whatever is beneficial to you and leave the rest. If you want to talk more:

In January, I’m planning on releasing a paid subscription for a serial story I’ve written. I’m attempting this in the hope it will encourage others in their daily lives. We all need more reminders that we are not alone. More details to come in their own email.
